Meet Stefanie

Stefanie Hynds, LCSW

I am passionate about helping people through periods of emotional difficulties, chronic depression, the inconsistency of mood disorders, the terror of panic attacks, and many more issues. It takes courage and strength to recognize when you need help. I believe strongly in building a partnership based on trust, genuine compassion, and understanding. I strive to create a supportive and welcoming environment to work toward long lasting change together. I provide a safe place to be heard without judgement while working through any issues you may face. I will laugh with you, I will listen without bias, I will encourage you, and provide the space for you to find yourself. I am also not afraid to crack a joke and enjoy getting to meet my virtual clients pets (as you will definitely meet my cats!).

My practice is a representation of me. I have poured myself into this business and strive to be my authentic self in every step I have taken. My journey has always been to grow and support those around me. I hope that you feel that I could be apart of your journey. Together we can get you where you want to be. One step at a time.

I believe strongly in meeting a client "where they are" and that each client is unique. I provide individualized therapy based on your specific needs, goals and issues.

I graduated from the University of Tennessee as an undergrad in English Literature and continued on for my Masters in Social Work through their wonderful program. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the states of Tennessee and New Hampshire. I also have completed trainings on eating disorders, CBT, expressive arts therapy, LGBTQ diversity, and am able to write letters for those interested in transition surgeries.

During my time in the field I have met so many different people while working in the justice system as a forensic social work intern, teaching classes and collecting data as a graduate research assistant, helping families in the foster care system, staying calm in mental health crisis situations as a mobile crisis worker, and getting to work one-on-one with clients in the therapy process.

On a personal note, I have three cats that I adore, a houseplant obsession, and a beautiful daughter that fills my life with laughter and love. I am supported by my wonderful and wacky husband, amazing friends, inspiring colleagues, and generous family who have been with me through all the process of going into private practice therapy. I have owned Healing Steps with Stefanie since October 2019 and enjoy having the freedom and flexibility to be my own boss. In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to music, playing video games, and playing DnD with my friends.
